Design tokens for developers: a practical starting set

If your team has no design system, start with tokens, not components:

• Colour: background, surface, text, muted text, primary, danger. Define light and dark values.
• Spacing: a 4px scale (4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48).
• Type: 5–6 sizes with line heights.
• Radius and shadow: 2–3 each.

Put them in CSS variables and use only those. Consistency appears on its own.
