Is GATE worth it if I already have a job offer?

I have a service-company offer at 3.6 LPA. Should I join and prepare for GATE alongside, or take a drop year?

Join and prepare alongside if you can protect 3–4 hours a day. You get experience, income and less pressure, and many people clear GATE while working. A drop year makes sense only if you're targeting a top-100 rank for IISc/IITs and know you can't study while working.
