Should I learn TypeScript before getting my first job?

Question

I'm 4 months into learning React. Every job post mentions TypeScript. Should I pause and learn it now, or keep building projects in JavaScript?

Arjun Mehta · Accepted Answer

Start using it now, but don't pause. Convert your current project file by file: rename `.jsx` to `.tsx` and fix the errors. You'll learn the 20% of TypeScript you need in a couple of weeks, and interviewers will see it in your GitHub.

As a hiring manager: TypeScript on a real project beats a certificate. Show you can type props, API responses and state.
